A visual artist, she completed a baccalaureate degree in Architecture from the Vilnius Art Academy in Lithuania, 2012. Rybakova started her career in architecture, and builds and designs objects and artist’s books. Her interest resides in the social life of things, the stories that surround them, the needs that keep them in circulation, and the conditions that configure said needs. She was a resident artist at the AIR Berlin Alexanderplatz in Berlin, Germany, 2014, the GSAPP’s Studio-X Residency in New York, USA, 2013, and the Rupert Educational Program in Vilnius, Lithuania, 2012 and 2013. She has been featured in exhibits at the Contemporary Art Center, Vilnius, Lithuania (2014); Taiga, Saint Petersburg, Russia (2014); Kunstverein, Toronto, Canada (2014); 16th Tallinn Print Triennial, Kumu Museum, Estonia (2014), where she won the Grand Prize for her artist’s book Shared Knowledge. Viktorija Rybakova lives and works in Vilnius.
