Haroon Gunn-Salie is a visual artist with a bachelor’s degree in Sculpture from the Michaelis School of Fine Art of the University of Cape Town, in South Africa, 2012. His collaborative art practice translates community oral accounts into artistic interventions and installations. Gunn-Salie’s graduate exhibition titled Witness (2012) presented a site-specific body of work focusing on still unresolved issues of forced removals under apartheid, working with veteran residents of District Six, an area in central Cape Town where widespread forced removals occurred. His works were shown at the 56th Venice Biennale, Italy (2015); the Vitra Design Museum, Germany (2015); the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Spain (2015); the New Church Museum, Cape Town, South Africa (2014); the Goodman Gallery, Johannesburg, South Africa (2014 and 2013); the Centre for African Studies Gallery, Cape Town (2013); among others. Haroon Gunn-Salie lives between Johannesburg and Belo Horizonte (Brazil).
