Drawing on reconstruction as an aesthetic operation, Martínez’s work starts out from his personal history to take a critical stance in the face of social phenomena. Issues such as the ethnic vindication of the indigenous peoples of Mexico and the political potential of memory are at the core of his reflections on the elaboration of the common past. His work has been exhibited in different museums in Mexico – MUAC, Alumnos47 Foundation, Museum de Arte Carrillo Gil, Museo Amparo, among others – Palazzo Mora, in Venice, Art Center Kunstquartier Bethanien, in Berlin, and School of Art and Design, in Geneva. He received the Ojo Alba Brothers Award for best documentary at the 15th Morelia International Film Festival and was part of the official selection of the Native Crossroads festival in Oklahoma, United States.
