Filmmaker and advertising professional. He is one of the partners at film company Conspiração Filmes. Started his career as a directing intern for Cacá Diegues’ 1989 film Dias Melhores Virão. His feature film debut, 1999’s Gêmeas, earned him the Best Film prize from the popular jury at Festival de Brasília. In 2000 he had a major box office hit with Eu Tu Eles, which featured in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival and won the Best Film prize at the Havana and Cartagena festivals. He also won the Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Best Script prize for Casa de Areia, in 2005. He has also filmed concerts by various Brazilian musicians, including Paralamas em Close Up, in 1998, and Outros (Doces) Bárbaros, in 2002, and made documentaries like Maria Bethânia – Pedrinha de Aruanda, in 2006. Also has a lengthy advertising portfolio. Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
