Documentary filmmaker; lives and works in Beijing. His works combine traditional documentary language, understood as a social and political testimony of history, and languages from mass culture, incorporating elements from video game aesthetics, the so-called B movies, and music videos. He thus straddles the so-called high- and low-layers of culture. His work is regarded by many as a commentary on the American invasion of the East. He has featured in the shows China Contemporary Art Exhibition: Red Continent, in Gwangju, South Korea, 2002; ARS O1, at the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, Finland, 2001; the Eighth New York Underground Film Festival, 2001; Fictions du Réel, Marseille International Documentary Festival Fictions du Réel, in France, 2001; and Microwave Festival, in Hong Kong, 2000.
