An artist, he holds a baccalaureate degree in Acting from the Istanbul University State Conservatory, Turkey, 1997, and a master’s degree in Art History from Istanbul Bilgi University, 2005. After a stint working in theater, he embraced video and performance, creating multichannel video installations. The rituals of various social strata, from nationalism to minority communities, as forgers of identity and group unity, constitute the focus of his interest. His works have been exhibited at the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen, Germany (2014); Protocinema, New York, USA (2013); La Triennale du Palais de Tokyo, Paris, France (2012); Kunsthalle Winterthur, Switzerland (2011); Casino Luxembourg, Luxemburg (2008); Stedelijk Museum Bureau, Amsterdam, Holland (2007); and other institutions. His films have won several prizes at international festivals, including the Tiger Award for short films at the Rotterdam Film Festival, Netherlands (2007), and the Special Mention from the Jury at the Berlinale, in Berlin, Germany (2013).
