Poet, composer, writer, screenwriter, journalist and visual artist. Studied Economics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro from 1973 to 1976, and Journalism from 1976 to 1977 at the same university. He was one of the founders of Indie Records record label. Since 1982, he has been a music lyricist, and several Brazilian artists, such as Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, Lobão, Marisa Monte, Gilberto Gil, Ney Matogrosso, Marina Lima and Rita Lee, have recorded his work. He wrote the radio hits Rádio-Blá, Totalmente Demais, She-Ra, Linda Demais, Sexy Yemanjah, Gata Todo Dia, and Com Certeza. He has directed music videos and created soundtracks for films like Navalha na Carne, and Luzia Homem. He is the author of theatrical plays, poems and novels. Alongside the writers Chacal and Guilherme Zarvos, in 1990, he co-created CEP 20.000 (Centro de Experimentação Poética – poetical experimentation center), comprising artists and writers. In keeping with an international trend, he made poetry videos and featured in international festivals such as the ZEBRA POETRY FILM FESTIVAL (Berlin - 2012) and DoctorClip (Rome-2013). In 2005 and 2006, alongside Bruno Cattoni, he organized the POESIA VOA Festival at Circo Voador, in Rio, and produced spoken-word poetry events such as: poemaShow (2001-2005), and the current KINOKLUBB. In the 1970s he worked in the independent press, in publications such as Bondinho and Opinião, and was an editor for newspaper O Pasquim (1985/86). Since 1973 he has written, edited, published, and sold his own poetry books (over 100 titles). Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
