Born in Japan and living in Brazil since 1998, the photographer comments on the creative process leading up to his Esculturas do Inconsciente series, shortlisted for the 18th Festival’s Southern Panoramas show. Walking along São Paulo streets, the artist says he stumbled upon buildings either abandoned, left unfinished or under construction. Removed from the sphere of utility, though located in an urban center, these constructions are interpreted by Nio as true examples of the unconscious of daily life in the big city.
