The artworks featured in the Southern Panoramas | Selected Works show and in the Film Programs | Selected Works of the 19th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil were analyzed by an international award jury. Eleven prizes were awarded, including a Grand Prize of BRL 75,000, nine residency prizes to be undertaken at Videobrasil Residency Program partner organizations, and the special prize SP-Arte/Videobrasil.

Solange Farkas, the Festival’s chief curator, outlines the 19th Festival award assignment strategies. The members of the jury — Hoor Al-Qasimi (UAE), N’Goné Fall (Senegal), Priscila Arantes (Brazil), Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy (Mexico) and Till Fellrath (Germany) — share their views on their participation in the Festival, their conceptualization centering on the geopolitical South, the perceived contexts in the examined artworks, and their evaluation methods. They particularly comment on the importance of the prizes as ways to recognize and encourage the work of the winning artists.

The video compiles moments from the award ceremony and short statements by the winning artists: Aline X (who co-authored Tocaia with Gustavo Jardim), Clara Ianni, Haroon Gunn-Salie, Hui Tao (winner of the Grand Prize), Karolina Bregula, Köken Ergun, Luciana Magno, Maya Watanabe, Paulo Nazareth, Pilar Mata Dupont, and Roy Dib.
