The dominican artist talks about his award-winning work Pisos which was awarded with a residency at the Kyoto Art Center at the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil. The sculptures revisit the Flávio de Carvalho's rejected project for the Columbus Lighthouse, a monument to celebrate the spirit of modern Pan-Americanism in Dominican Republic. The artist states that “I wanted to question this international modern style implemented in the Caribbean that didn’t show any relationship to the climate, the natural environment nor the colors or the textures of the Caribbean.”
