The 8th edition of the Festival confirmed its trend towards internationalization. For the first time, artists from Southern countries were able to enter the Competitive Show. The shortlist included 32 works by artists from Latin America, Africa and Oceania.

The jury comprised foreign guests and featured Arlindo Machado (Brazil), Augusto Gôngorra (Chile), Carlos Trilnick (Argentina), Jean-Marie Duhard (France) and Jill Scott (Australia).

The 8th Videobrasil awarded prizes to 10 pieces by 11 artists from four different countries.

Trophy design

The winners from the 8th Fotoptica International Video Festival received the Fotoptica Trophy. It is a multiple sculpture, created by the sculptor Roberval Layus de Souza and made of Brazilian most typical natural materials: rock crystal and wood.
