Produced by the Television Española (Spanish TV), the series El Arte del Video, is a hystorical review of videoart showing the best productions of all times grouped in different genres. Conclued at the beginning of 1991, besides reviewing the first 25 years of videoart, it is also a contribution, from TV media to creativeness and experiment of new audio-viasual presentatiton formats and forms coherent to the theme: the videoart, or in other wods, the artistic look of television. Each chapter of the series ends with a small part of an original work (around 5 minutes), and authors such as Jean-Luc Godard, Nam June Paik, Gary Hill, Bill Viola, Robert Wilson, Woody and Steina Vasulka, Zbigniew Rybzcynski, Robert Cahen, Jean Paul Fargier and others, were in charge of these "special productions".
The selection of the anthologic foreground was done after consulting more than one thousand works from all times. Authors and works with represented a remarkable contribution to the development of video language or made the artistic and aesthetic aspects priority over others, are already known by the TV public all over the world. These fragments are included in the series without any kind of manipulation or cut, since what was selected represented a significant unity of the whole work or the authors's artistic route.
