Artist to coordinate international residency

Coco Fusco is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist, writer, and faculty member at the Parsons New School for Design, and is currently coordinating the residency program of the Atlantic Center for the Arts, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, USA. The program is accepting entries up until February 3rd, 2013.

Fusco is seeking artists whose works explore languages such as performance, video and tactical interventions, focusing on reflection about the meaning of on-site art practices in our time, to take part in the Atlantic Center for the Arts residency program from May 13 to June 02, 2013. Coco believes that through the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the group’s participants, a better understanding of time-based art practices will emerge, including their social and political implications.

Coco Fusco’s art combines electronic media and performance in various formats, for instance incorporating large-scale projections and closed-circuit television in live internet broadcasts. She has presented performances, lectures, shows, and programs in countries such as South Africa, Australia, China, England, USA and Brazil. She participated in the 15ª FestivalVideobrasil with her Bare Life Study #1 (2005) action, and was featured in one of the editions of the Videobrasil Coleção de Autores (Videobrasil Authors Collection).
