Luciana Brito Gallery pays tribute to Farkas, Geraldo de Barros and Gaspar Gasparian in fair’s 2013 edition

The 2013 of fair SP-Arte/Foto, which will be open to the public from 8.22 to 25 at Shopping JK Iguatemi, São Paulo, will feature a tribute to Thomaz Farkas produced by the Luciana Brito Gallery. The gallery is the official representative of the artist, who passed away in 2011, and it has selected pieces made between 1940 and 1960: from a phase marked by influence from various European constructivist strains (in its tendency toward abstraction and geometry), to the more humanistic tone of his later works, characterized by intimacy, social overtones, and photojournalism.

The same booth will also pay tribute to Geraldo de Barros and Gaspar Gasparian, who comprised the historical Foto Cine Clube Bandeirante alongside Thomaz Farkas. The group did work connected with the advances of modern art in photography, and is considered to have pioneered this type of language in Brazil.
