State-sponsored violence is the genesis to Bosfohrus: A Trilogy, by the Iranian Bita Razavi, featured in the 18th edition of the Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil. It is a video about a namesake video that was censored by the Iranian decency police. In April 2011, Razavi filmed the story of a couple’s trip through the Bosphorus Strait, in Turkey. In February 2012, the footage was seized and Razavi was arrested in Tehran. In the police car, she began producing the new version. What was lost can be retold.

Razavi’s works have featured at institutions and events such as the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Helsinki Photography Biennial, the Helsinki Design Museum and the 15th Biennial of the Mediterranean, in Lisbon (2011). She lives and works out of Helsinki, Finland.
