Curator's text Marcello Dantas, 1992

Video is outdated. Videomaking is not modern anymore. It has lost the idea of novelly and has entirely merged as one of the core elements among the spectrum of human communications of the end of the 20th Century.

This might be the reason why fewer vanguards of knowledge and creation have been producing video as a form of art, and the young public interest in media has become much more commercial than cultural or artistic. But it was expected, this is part of a natural selection that would happen sooner or later.

Nevertheless, for some people video is more than boundary, it's a need. It's the only media able to translate their ideas. They see video not only as a mean, but as the essence through which an idea becomes real.

In my opinion, this show brings some works which are part of this category. Not as anthology, but as a summary of that was done in the last two years and has not been exhibited in other sections of the festival.
