A graduate in industrial design from the Faculdade de Belas‑Artes de São Paulo, in 2001 Shima started researching behavioral patterns and the sense of belonging. Working with performance, photography, video, and installation, he was among those selected for the Itaú Cultural Rumos Visuais program (2009) and the Pampulha Scholarship in Belo Horizonte (2010). He has recently done residencies in Holland, Japan, and Belgium, and participated in exhibitions and festivals in Holland, Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic, Japan, Chile, Argentina, Spain, and Portugal.
