Visual artist. He studied classical guitar and graduated and worked in the field of chemistry, becoming a self-taught photographer and dedicating himself completely to this activity in the late 1980s. His works tackle social and racial issues, as well as topics related to the identity and the memory of the African Brazilian culture. His expanded photography is characterized by the manipulation of images where negatives and copies are juxtaposed and exposed to chemical processes that alter their texture. Since 2005 he has also been working with moving and sequential images. Her work has been showcased in exhibitions and institutions such as Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (1996 and 1998); 6th Havana Biennial (1997); 5th Rencontres de la Photographie Africaine, Bamako (2003); and the São Paulo-Valência Biennial (2007). He lives in Diamantina.
