She graduated in Social Communication with a major in Public Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in 2001. In 2002 she took part in the Mosaico project, in the city of Guarapari, Espírito Santo, where she collaborated to create a research network designed to establish a sustainable local culture through puppet shows, theater plays and art installations. She worked as a videomaker and editor at Belo Horizonte’s Black Maria video studios in 2003 and 2004, teaching film and video classes to secondary school students while making independent documentary productions, institutional videos, short films, and experimental work. Also in 2004, she made the video performance Derivado de minha beleza, which won the Critics Prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival and featured in several shows, such as the 32nd Contemporary Art Salon of Santo André and the 1st International Festival of Belém.
