Professor at the Postgraduate Program of the Communication Department at UFPE. Completed a degree in Journalism from the Federal University of Espírito Santo in 1990. Completed a master’s degree in Multimedia from the Campinas State University in 1994; a doctorate in Sciences of Communication from Vale do Rio dos Sinos University in 2002, and a doctoral internship at the McGill University in Montreal, in 2000. He focuses his studies on Communication and Music, more specifically on the connections between mass media and rock-and-roll music. He coordinates the research group Cultura, Comunicação e Música Popular Massiva (Culture, Communication and Massive Popular Culture), funded by the CNPq. He has written and organized the books Aumenta Que Isso Aí é Rock and Roll; Heavy Metal com Dendê; Comunicação e Música Popular Massiva; and Comunicação e Estudos Culturais.
