Garcia is an artist and researcher. Her art focuses on the relationship between performance and digital and electronic media, namely photography and video, questioning the different possibilities of how the individual establishes relationship with his/her own body. Since 2007, her research has been resulting in the series Corpo ruído [Noise Body]. She studied theater at Escola Célia Helena drama school, in São Paulo, Brazil, between 1993 and 1995, and at the Michael Howard Studio, in New York, in 1996; she graduated in Visual Arts from the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP), in 2005, and obtained a master’s degree in Visual Arts from Faculdade Santa Marcelina, in 2009. Some of the various exhibitions in which she participated are A Curious Blindness, The Wallach Art Gallery (New York, 2015); Terra Comunal/ Marina Abramovic, Sesc São Paulo (São Paulo, 2015), of which she was also one of the curators; and The Artist is an Explorer, Beyeler Foundation (Basel, 2014). She is also an artist and projects coordinator at the Marina Abramovic Institute, in New York, where she lives and works.
