His work is generally built around network relationships, inviting the audience to become active and to create the artwork along with the artist. These actions are performed at public, collective spaces. Thus being, the internet is key, regarded as a free, participative space. He has studied Ethnology and History at the University of Zurich, and became a musician at age 21. He has been in several bands, such as Kurt and Scuba Divers. He has performed live and recorded CDs. He made a brief foray into painting, which he soon quit. From 1985 onwards he worked as an image editor, graphic designer and curator. In 1999 he returned to the arts, making public interventions, performances and conferences. He received an honorable mention at the 2008 Prix Ars Electronica. In 2001 he made The Helloworld Project, an interactive performance presented in Mumbai, Geneva, Rio de Janeiro and New York.
