Since the late seventies, Constance DeJong has cultivated a career as a writer and a performance, video, and new media artist. She is well known as the writer of the libretto of Philip Glass's opera Satyagraha and for her numerous collaborations with the videoartist Tony Oursler. Joyride TM (1988), one of their first collaborations, was included in the 1989 Whitney Biennial. DeJong has exhibited internationally with projects produced by organizations, such as the Dia Foundation for the Arts and Minetta Brook. She is currently a professor of art and time based media at Hunter College.
