A journalist, she went to the state of Espírito Santo in the early 1970s, where she started working for newspapers and radio stations, and spent a few months in prison for activism against the dictatorial regime. In 1977 she moved to Brasília, where she worked for five years as a reporter on diplomatic affairs at newspaper Gazeta Mercantil. In São Paulo, where she lived in the first half of the 1980s, she worked at the Brazil section of magazine Veja and as a reporter and interviewer for the company Abril Vídeo. In Rio de Janeiro, from 1985 on, she was the economics editor and columnist for newspaper Jornal do Brasil. Since 1991 she has been with Organizações Globo, where she writes a daily column for newspaper O Globo, republished by various media outlets across the country. She is a commenter on radio station CBN, an interviewer on TV channel Globonews, and a commenter on TV newscast Bom Dia Brasil and website Globo Online. Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
