Filmmaker. Worked as a video artist throughout the 1990s, having participated in several festivals. During that same period he made advertisements and documentaries for television. The experimental videos Féssoas, Brasiconoscópio and Speaking Alone date from that period. He holds a degree in Social Communication with a major in Journalism from the University of Brasília and a master’s in Cinema and Video from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. From 2000 to 2009 he was a professor at the Catholic University of Brasília, where he coordinated the Radio and Television Center. Prior to that he taught Cinema at the University of Brasília, from 1995 to 1999. In 1996 he set up the production company Plateau Filmes, with which he produced three short films: O Jardineiro do Tempo; O Perfumado; and Por Longos Dias, a documentary on Brazil’s Sem Terra (landless) movement, which won the Special Jury prize at the 27th Gramado Festival of Latin and Brazilian Film, and several prizes at Brazilian festivals in 1999, including the Best Film prize at the Festival of Curitiba, and was shortlisted for 20 other international events (Clermont-Ferrand, Trieste, Siena, Munich and Berlin). He premiered his first feature film, Simples Mortais, in 2007. Lives and works in Brasília.
