Statement Roberto Bellini, 2003

My name is Roberto Bellini, I have a degree in Design from the School of Fine Arts of UFMG, a specialization in Design, and I started working in video. Just before I got my degree, I was part of an exchange program at Texas University, in Austin, where I studied at the Department of Transmedia for one year, and it was in that period that I began to work more with video art, media and sound. My work here in Videobrasil is “How Things Work”, it is in fact... part of a process in which I began to work with sound, and how sound and image ran side by side in video. I tried to establish situations in which the result of the sound could be interesting, so, in the case of “How Things Work” I brought together two or three different material universes - rubber, metal and a more organic universe. I put these three in contact so that I could explore the image and the sound that could emerge from it.
