The piece works with the universe explored by the porn production company MEN AT PLAY, which specializes in erotic storylines involving male characters from the corporate and business world. Set in the city of São Paulo, the video installation portrays a search for potential locations for a hypothetical video by the production company. It unravels and deconstructs the narrative framework common to the genre’s productions, utilizing audio and video material from scenes that precede explicit sex, taken from the London-based company’s online archives. Building urban sceneries tied with their public dimension, the artwork discusses the place of sexuality in the city through the prism of an implicit private obscenity that lurks around the supposed integrity of those spaces. The piece was commissioned by Associação Cultural Videobrasil and created between September and December, 2012 during the artist’s residency at Casa Tomada, in São Paulo, and at Delfina Foundation, in London.
