The artist Eneida Sanches discusses her participation in the 18th Festival alongside her collaborator, Tracy Collins. They explain what it was like combining engraving, video and animation for the piece. They describe the combination as an interplay between engraving’s more static, “well-behaved” character and video’s more dynamic characteristic. They also speak on the surprises they had throughout the creative process, which Sanches likens to the trance experiences of Yoruba rituals. According to her, an artist is someone who carries an idea sought from other dimensions, through their immersion in creative flows.
