He was a visual artist and performer, graduated in visual arts from the Federal University of Espírito Santo. His practice has involved performance, video, photography, installation and drawing, exploring the physical and mental limits of the body in search of emotional and spiritual transformation. He used minimal gestures, silence and slowness to investigate dichotomies such as action/inactivity and presence/absence. He presented works in more than twenty countries, including Brazil, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Mexico, Russia and Mongolia. He served as a visiting professor at Svefi (Sweden) and gave lectures at institutions in Colombia, Mexico and Estonia. He was a co-founder of LAP! _Action and Performance Laboratory and TRAMPOLIM_ a meeting platform for performance art. In 2016, his work was compiled in the book Marcus Vinícius: a presença do mundo em mim [Marcus Vinícius: the presence of the world in me] and in the project “Imensidão íntima” [Intimate Immensity], which made his audiovisual collection available online.
