Visual artist graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Lima, and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam. In paintings and installations, with materials such as plaster, wood and clay, he examines narratives and myths that create different versions of history, especially related to his native country. Approaching themes that range from Indigenous culture to urban life, from the intimate dimension of the family to the scale of public space, he presents contradictions of society through a wide range of languages and visualities. Among his recent solo shows are exhibitions at GRIMM, New York, USA (2021); the Alliance Française, Lima, Peru (2019); and at Busan Biennale, South Korea (2022); New Museum Triennial, New York (2021); and Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE (2019). He lives in Amsterdam.
