Self-taught visual artist. He studied different science and engineering topics through books on chemistry, physics, electronics and mathematics. He works with sculpture and drawings made in graphite, colored pencil and ballpoint pen, in which he includes calculations, diagrams and comments that illustrate complex mechanisms and futuristic-looking machines. His drawing is a vehicle for social critique, connecting his own wartime memories with current upheavals and ongoing issues such as border control, the military-industrial complex and the dictatorship of technology. He has taken part in recent exhibitions at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, Paris, France (2022); MoMA, New York, USA (2020); Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo, Norway (2020); and at the biennials of Venice, Italy (2015); Taipei, Taiwan (2015); among others. He lives in Harlingen.
