A visual artist, he completed a degree in Visual Arts from Faculdade Santa Marcelina in São Paulo, 2006. He works with painting, video, and sculpture. His work reveals an interest in elements of performance, with perceptible nods to neo-concretism, in settings composed of minimal elements where color appears as a structural component. Narrative is replaced with repetition of gestures in interaction with materials endowed with heavy symbolic charge, in spite of their commonplace character. Cass’ work has been shown at the Tomie Ohtake Institute in São Paulo (2015); the Musée D’art Contemporain in Lyon, France (2014); Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo, Norway (2013); The Jewish Museum in New York, USA (2013); the Pampulha Art Museum in Belo Horizonte (2011); the Centre for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, Israel (2008); Medellín Artes Digitales in Medellin, Colombia (2008); the São Paulo Cultural Center (2006); and other museums and institutions. Rodrigo Cass lives and works in São Paulo.
