Akram Zaatari is the most prolific video author of his generation, besides he organizes the Lebanese electronic art scene and found the Arab Image Foundation, an organ devoted to recover and reinterpret the photographic legacy of the Arab world. Graduated in architecture, approached the electronic language producing documentaries for the state TV in Lebanon. His work developed to a hybrid and contemporary register on the border among fiction, memory and history. Is an implacable critic of the Western vision of the East and of moral, social and political conditions of his region. This selection enlightens important aspects of Zaatari’s work, with emphasis on his participations in Videobrasil with “Teach Me” (1996), “Crazy of You” (1998) and “Red Chewing Gum” (2001).
