One of the effects of the Internet has been to make images of suffering and atrocities a part of our everyday lives. How does one deal with these images? How should we face them? In this work, the artist uses digital resources to simulate the slashing and mutilation of his own face. Far from seeking a moral or moralizing response to the issues it raises, the work aims to investigate our capacity to become indifferent spectators, immune to the violence we see.
