The work, commissioned by Associação Cultural Videobrasil, was made at the Casa Tomada residency, in São Paulo, between April and July 2011. In this investigation into the visuality of the metropolis, the mix of painting and collage opens space for critical dialogue between urban issues and themes from the history of art. Ephemeral photographic records and visual citations of historic paintings create landscapes in which the perspective chaos and visual violence are metaphors for reality in the big city. The collage reorganizes elements and approximates distant places, generating a polyphony that alludes to the political, social, and cultural spheres.
