Independent television program in which the reporter Brivaldo takes to the streets to investigate, in a good-humored way, the place of the donkey in the economy and in the daily life of Pernambuco’s inhabitants. Interviews with passersby and coverage of the traditional donkey race at Festival Nacional dos Jericós highlight the picturesque similarities between the lives of the animal and that of workers, as well as their mutual dependence. Through these similarities, the program satirizes Brazilian politics and the so-called superiority of the civilized man over the animal. The title pays homage to Luiz Gonzaga, alluding to the song Apologia ao jumento (O jumento é nosso irmão).
