EDER SANTOS
Brazilian Eder Santos is one of the most renowned and widely seen of today's video makers in Brazil. Paradoxically, his work is not one of the easiest. Identified with more radical experimentation in Brazilian video production and allowing for no concessions, his work is constituted by noises, interferences, defects, disturbances of the equipment and, in some of his pieces, Eder borders the limits of visualisation. Eder moulds a visual language from various technologies, ranging from digital media to fragments of super-8, usually home made films by amateurs, such as in the video Europa em 5 minutos, in which he exercises all his ability to unveil cognitive modules of the image. Eder creates vibrant and poetic works fusing personal, cultural and technological elements, interpreting anew themes related to Brazilian cultural heritage and evoke rhythms and textures of memory and of history, creating a reflection on contemporary society. I works such as Não vou a África porque tenho plantão, Essa coisa nervosa and Janaúba, Eder Santos, clearly states this position, reaffirming his commitment to the tireless search of stylistic resources.
