Interview on TV Cultura’s Metrópolis show | October 3, 1988

The interviewees explained the competitive show video short-listing process. Whereas the early festivals focused on fostering independent productions and creating space for video, the 6th edition targeted the medium’s professionalization, valuing technical quality and creativity. The awards were still divided into the U-matic and VHS formats, and a new addition was a workshop grant in Maine (United States) for the grand prize winner. About the recurrent themes at the Festival, Priolli notes that many of the works address politics, diversity, and music, but says there are also several “self-referring” videos.
