The video Teach Me (1996) - which is now part of the Videobrasil Collection - was shortlisted for the 11th Festival’s competitive show, marking Akram Zaatari’s first appearance in the Festival. In this interview, made during the 11th edition, the artist explains the video’s conception and how image appropriation and resignification can change certain sets of cultural imagery. He also discusses the relative ease of making video as opposed to the costly filmmaking process in Lebanon in that particular period. Finally, he recounts his festival experience.
