The Tanzanian-born artist speaks out on her experiences in South Africa, the feeling of being a foreigner and not being fully welcomed to the country, which prompted her to use the idea of voice in her piece, shown at the 18th Festival. Being in tune appears as a metaphor to inadequacy. She also talks about the performance-like dimension of her work, and the connections between video and performance. She recounts her first contact with Associação Cultural Videobrasil, on occasion of her partcipation in the Dakar Biennale.
