In a bid to investigate the potential and particular reactions of each spectator while visiting an exhibition, five people were selected via an open call to participate in Carolina Mendonça’s Público performance, one of the 18th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil On Tour’s activation actions at Sesc Campinas (São Paulo).

The performance, presented by Campinas residents, builds an action that subtly interferes with the routes of visitors at the exhibition in order to observe their relationship with the artworks and with others, and their behavior in the venue.

Carolina Mendonça watched visitors at the exhibition and proposed subtle ways for the performers to interfere with their routes, while respecting their rhythm, in order to induce them to arrive at the desired conclusions. The action is part of the Public Programs.

The Público performance was also part of the 18th Festival activation actions at São Paulo’s Sesc Pompeia and of the 18th Festival On Tour at Sesc São Carlos (São Paulo).

Carolina Mendonça (São Paulo, Brazil,1984) straddles performance, visual arts, theater and dancing. Her works have been featured in the Sesc Arts Show (2012) and at the Prague Quadrennial (2011).
