A recording of the performance created by artist Letícia Ramos and staged at Sesc Pompéia’s Theater. For this experiment in performance, the artist stages a spectacle baed on a projection of the video Vostok, accompanied by an original soundtrack played live. Led by the conductor Rossano Snel, who is also a native of Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state, a sextet using widely varied instruments – from classical string ones to synthesizers – plays a special orchestral arrangement as the 21-minute video unfolds. Replicating a concert and the old movie theaters, the artist drives a performance where sound, video, and the audience come together to create an arrestingly dramatic spectacle, portraying a fictional scientific expedition to the depths of the Antarctic. A leftfield narrative that conflates actual expedition practices, sci-fi stories, and speculations about nature.
