The brazilian artist talks about her works Há terra! and Amérika: Bahía de las Flechas, exhibited in the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil. The video Amérika: Bahía de las Flechas revisits Lake Enriquillo in present-day Dominican Republic, where Christopher Columbus landed in 1492 and confronted the native Taíno people to establish the first European settlement in America. In turn, the video Há terra! takes place deep in Brazilian northeastern arid country, following an enigmatic character as it hides, walks, and crawls through the local vegetation. The artist states that “to me, filmmaking has always had a ritualistic power.”
