Risk is not concrete; it is an index. To the public powers, a “risk situation” is defined by the vulnerability of both environment and citizen. Since reactions of estrangement are already expected upon visiting an exhibition, what type of artistic proposition could insert situations of danger in the protected premises of museums and art galleries? Or else, what sort of risk does the artist assume in an action, by claiming for his projects the safety that art warrants him? The debaters in "Risk Situations in the Protected Field of Art" discussed these questions and raised other ones, recounting situations they have experienced. Mario Ramiro talked about his former group, 3Nós3, Lucas Bambozzi mentioned his experiences in presenting his work at public spaces, and Coco Fusco spoke on her political actions as an artist.
