With four decades of professional activity in the cultural field, Solange Farkas was chief curator at the Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia. As a guest curator, she has taken part of FUSO (Portugal), Dak'Art – Contemporary African Art Biennale (Senegal), the 6th Jakarta International Video Festival (Indonesia), the 10th Sharja Biennial (United Arab Emirates), the 16th Cerveira International Art Biennial (Portugal) and the 5th Video Zone – International Video Art Biennial (Israel). The founder and director of Associação Cultural Videobrasil, she has been taking up the role of artistic director of the festival and biennial Sesc_Videobrasil since its first edition in 1983, dedicated to the growth of both its collection and a wide network of institutional partners on all five continents. In recent years, she has been a member of the Prize Jury of the 14th Sharjah Biennial (2019), the Prince Claus Awards Prize Committee (2017–2018), the jury of the 10th Rencontres de Bamako – African Photography Biennial (Mali, 2015), the curators’ selection committee for the 11th Berlin Biennale (2020), and contributed in the organization of the Anthropocene Project exhibition at the Ilmin Museum of Art (Korea, 2019). She is a member of the jury committee of Amsterdam’s EYE Art & Film Prize, and member of the board of the Pivô art space, in São Paulo. In 2017, she was the recipient of the Montblanc Arts Patronage Award, a prize from the German foundation granted to professionals with an outstanding career dedicated to supporting and developing the many artistic and cultural expressions. She has recently curated a series of exhibitions on the Videobrasil Online platform, which launched in 2020. In 2022, Farkas has served as curator of the show REVIRAVOLTA, held in Vitória in partnership with the Government of the State of Espírito Santo.
