Luiz Roque is interest in exploring how the understanding of monuments is conditioned by the inexorable historical time, and re-signified by situations of broad cultural change. From this perspective, the artist builds a ritualistic narrative where political consensus appears to have been reached under a new social context. In a post-apocalyptic scenario, modern fine arts paradigms are brought up via the sculptural works of Amilcar de Castro, as a brand new monument gets literally rebuilt – supposedly an object of civilizatory and social valuation and recognition.
