The theme is old, the idea is simple and the result unpredictable, The Associação Cultural Videobrasil invited Marcelo Machado to coordinate the survey "10 questions for 100 heads which influence 100 million people". Marcelo, 33, has been working in video for eleven years. He is one of the creators of "Olhar Eletrônico", for which he won several awards. Since 1985 he has dedicated himself to making TV programs, including some for TV Gazeta (Olho Mágico e Crig-Rá), MTV and TV Rio. As asking questions isn't an offense, 100 famous Brazilian people received 10 questions through the post , along with a request for simple and direct answers; because a country that "reads little and watches too much TV should care more about the quality for he programs that enter their homes", says Marcelo. In the 9th International Videobrasil Festival there will be an open debate about these questions with the distribution of this questionaire. It represents the lauching of the survey which might extend and multiply in an unpredictable way. Only the next stage has already been defined: that there will be a book with a summary and comment of the answers. These are the questions: 1. What are the best and worst aspects of Brazilian TV today? 2. How do the audience levels affect the choice of programs to be shown? 3. What do you think of the way the TV channels are allocated in Brazil? 4. What kind of responsability does such a selection carry? 5. Why aren't independent videomakers and filmakers participating more in Brazilian TV? 6. How is it possible to respect and value the regional differences in TV? 7. How can Brazilian TV help to raise the cultural level of its population? 8. Which is the children's program which most helps to further the education of the young? 9. Which program or TV broadcasting company is geared towards experimentation and the search for new ideas in TV? 10. What is lacking in Brazilian TV?
