The advent of new media poses new questions to curators and art conservators alike. Institutions are faced with novel challenges in their concern with studying, classifying and exhibiting Electronic Art. Seemingly clear-cut issues when it comes to other languages, such as originality and reproducibility, become hazy when it comes to digital media. Computer technologies ushered in new possibilities in recording the formal characteristics of artworks, enabling different modes of contact between artwork and audience. These issues were discussed by the participants in “Debate Forum: Curating, Recording and Preserving Electronic Art.”
