A filmmaker, photographer and composer, since the 1970s, Arthur Omar has built a career out of blurring the lines between different art territories. His political-poetical work moves back and forth between static and moving image, electronic music, installation, and web art, with social violence as one of his key subjects. He featured in a major retrospective at New York’s MoMA in 1999, and exhibited the photography series Viagem ao Afeganistão (Trip to Afghanistan), shot in the catastrophe zone near Kabul, at the 2002 São Paulo Art Biennial.
