The rearrangement of the symbolic significance of Brazilian cultural production within the global scene is discussed by art critics Marcelo Rezende and Kiki Mazzucchelli as they take on the oeuvres of Alagoas’ Jonathas de Andrade and Bahia’s Tuti Minervino.
Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, winner of the 2010 Cannes Palme d’Or, and journalist Alcino Leite Neto co-sign a script. Scholar Boris Groys reflects on art, religion and advertising in an interview to artist Luiza Proença; his essay “Camaradas do tempo” is featured in Portuguese. Art critic Zoran Terzic reviews the friction between “being an artist” and “being a politician” in an article on Joseph Beuys. Caderno also features interventions by artists Jonathas de Andrade, Roberto Winter, and Pedro Barateiro.
